Place in the Organisation
The incumbent of this post reports technically and administratively to the Chief of Area Office under the overall technical supervision of the Field Sanitary Engineer.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:
Assists in planning, implementation and reporting of solid waste management activities.
· Mobilizes and facilitates the engagements of stakeholders in project planning, implementation and monitoring meetings;
· Assists in organization of stakeholder focus group meetings;
· Conducts home visits to increase community participation and SWM practices;
· Participates in project planning, review and update of project plans; implementation of planned activities, and monitoring and reporting of progress;
· Mobilizes local CBO support in the implementation of planned activities;
· Facilitates stakeholders and partners in the supervision and monitoring of programmatic activities; and
· Supports documentation of success stories on semi-annual and annual basis.

Promotes and ensure refugees engagement and advocate for desired behavioural changes.
· Facilitates formation of camp neighbourhood groups to advocate and promote cleanliness in the camps, and for effective implementation of the new system;
· Mobilizes and facilitates active participation of school students and youth in their communities to raise awareness of their environment, identify and resolve issues camp environment issues and promote cleanliness in the camps;
· Builds the capacity of community to collectively engage local leaders on camp environment related issues; and
· Works with the local leaders and notables to generate their support

Monitoring of the progress
· Organizes periodic reflection meetings at the community level to assess progress and challenges in solid waste management in the camps and provide feedback to the project management; and
· Facilitates communities to identify challenges to effective adoption and propose local solutions for them.

· Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
· University degree in social work, sociology, social anthropology, public health, environmental health, or any other related degree in social development.
Experience:
· At least two years’ experience in a community development programme involving participatory approach and application of the knowledge acquired in “Minimum Qualifications”.
Language
· Command of spoken and written English and Arabic.
Competencies
· Ability to work under pressure and challenging conditions;
· Ability to take initiative and maintain cordial relationship with all concerned;
· Ability to work effectively within a team as well as work independently without close supervision;
· Partnering and engaging with stakeholders Community Facilitation skills; and
· Networking and influencing skills.
Desirable Qualifications
· An understanding of the refugee community and knowledge of the customs, habits, religions and traditions of various refugee groups; and
· Basic computer literacy.
Equivalency
When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the concerned Director may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience.
NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
