What we are looking for in IATA Africa and the Middle East
In order to deliver more value to our members and customers, to overcome our unique regional geographical and operational challenges, and to maximize the opportunities we have across the region, we are looking for new leadership talent in our Africa and Middle East region.
The Regional Head, People, Performance and Development Africa and the Middle East drives a meaningful centrally developed people strategy in line with business needs and is accountable for all Human Resources (HR) activities in the region
Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnering
- Work effectively as a strategic business partner with the regional management team by providing expert guidance on people, performance and development issues, including recruitment, rewards, policies, procedures, development and training and employee engagement
- Implement and drive centrally developed strategy in the area of learning & development, compensation & benefits, employee engagement and performance management;
- Foster a culture of inclusion, integrity, team spirit, strategic thinking, partnering, innovative pioneering and acting with a human touch
Talent Management

- Coach teams of professionals and champion the development of team capabilities and individual competencies through effective talent management and learning solutions.
- Maintain an effective talent acquisition process to attract the high caliber candidates.
- Build effective coaching capacity among people managers
- Support Team Leaders in people management related matters e.g. compliance with labor legislation, working conditions, benefits management etc.
Regional Collaboration
- Be an active member of the Regional Leadership Team
- Maintain effective relationships with other members of the leadership team, outside service providers and partners
- Collaborate effectively with the PMO on transformation projects
- Develop and implement recommendations that continually generate improvements in the delivery of AME services.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Labor Law, Business Administration or another relevant field
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in relevant field with at least 5 years of experience in a Senior HR Business Partner role at an international level
- Hands-on experience with setting and driving a people strategy, employee relations, conflict resolution and effective business partnering;
- Advanced Proficiency in MS Office and HR Systems
- Professional Certification (SHRM or CIPD)
- Fluency in English (CEFR: C1)
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree is an asset e.g. MBA
- Experience in the aviation industry is an asset
- Proficiency in CRMs (e.g. Salesforce)
- Proficiency in regional languages (CEFR B1)
- Certified Trainer
- Certified Coach
