Job Description
We are looking for an energetic and organized self-starter who can be the front-line advocate for our students and help coordinate all aspects of their RBK experience.
Our students come from diverse backgrounds. Critical to our students’ success is that they are safe and have a feeling of happiness and belonging while learning at RBK. The Student Experience Coordinator ultimately works to ensure ALL students have a 5 star experience during their tenure.
Responsibilities
- The main point of contact for the students
- Shepherding students through the process of discovery
- Motivation and engagement officer – personal coach
- Maintain arousal levels
- Process student requests in a professional, timely and fair manner
- Escalate severe cases to Program Manager
- Disseminate daily and weekly schedules
- Broadcast announcements including special events or opportunities including birthdays, VIP visits, media visits
- Enforce schedule
- Enforce the student code of conduct
- Enforce English-only speech
- Enforce hygiene
- Coordinate remediation and student feedback sessions
- Maintain tardiness logs
- Issue warnings
- Bell ringing – pair learning switch-up
- Monitor and track student and group emotional health and stress levels
- Populate and update Daily Metrics sheets
- Document issues
- Work with the instructional team to set student expectations
- Set mood in the training lab – control atmospherics such as music or white noise and fine tune the physical and psychological environment to maximize learning
- Control temperature and ventilation
- Supply training aids to students (markers, tissues, whiteboards etc.)
- Coordinate career talks and the guest speaker series
- Coordinate special events such as graduation day, media day and career fairs
- Coordinate activities during unplugging hour - yoga, mediation, walking groups, fitness activities
- Coordinate weekly social nights
- Coordinate transportation and housing
- Administer and track student surveys. Enforce as required
- Support the Phase 3 Outcomes Team as required
Qualifications

- 1-3 years work experience (preference for experience in higher education, HR, recruiting, community development, or customer service role)

High Level Job Description
We are seeking an experienced counselor / therapist to mitigate student and staff stress levels and maximize the RBK experience.
Our students come from diverse backgrounds. Critical to our students’ success is that they are safe and have a feeling of happiness and belonging while learning at RBK. The Program Counselor works to ensure students AND staff have a 5 star experience.
This position is part-time (~20 hours per week) and will potentially grow to full time within 6-8 months.
Responsibilities
· Lead twice weekly group therapy sessions (Talking Circles and Tapouts) with students
· Conduct one-on-one counseling and emotional rejuvenation sessions with students and staff as required
· Support the Instructional Team by mitigating and treating emotional barriers that block learning
· Identify and remediate bias
· Resolve negative feelings such as guilt and anger using restorative justice techniques
· Document progress and processes while maintaining confidentiality
· Create tools and assessments for tracking individual and group emotional and social growth
· Crisis intervention
· Treat imposter syndrome
· Support RBK’s mindfulness curriculum
· Attend weekly all-hands meetings providing status reports, updates, temperature checks and present tough cases
· Onboard new staff in identifying and responding to PTSD and conflict related mental health issues
Qualifications
· Strong English ability (CEFR - C1, TOEFL - 95, IELTS - 7)
· Master’s (or doctoral degree) in psychology, counseling, social work or other related human services area. Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure within an agreed upon period of time) as a psychologist, clinical social worker, mental health counselor, or marriage and family therapist
· Strong knowledge of mental health theory, research, degrees of pathology, practice and the Arab mindset
· Able to establish a trusted maternal presence in a group setting
· Able to facilitate conversation and guide personal growth
· Strong knowledge of mental health law and professional ethical codes including HIPA
· Be skilled in identifying and treating PTSD
· High social and emotional intelligence - must be able to draw the correct conclusions about student emotional states
· An empathetic listener: Able to exercise active listening and guide one towards a deeper understanding of their experiences and increased self-awareness
· High situational awareness: “feel” the vibe and understand nuances within a group
· Rationally compassionate and level-headed
· Understand Talking Circles and other forms of restorative justice
