The Opportunity:
Plan International in Jordan is seeking to recruit a Driver for a Child Protection program funded by the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG-ECHO) in Azraq Camp aiming at responding to the Syrian refugee crisis and in particular to the needs of the most at-risk population – children and youth (especially girls and boys). To reach this objective, Plan International will respond in the programmatic area of Child Protection in Emergency and specifically to 1) improve the protective environment for children within the targeted areas in Azraq Camp, 2) to increase awareness on protection, GBV related issues and positive parenting skills of mothers, fathers, and caregivers 3) to increase knowledge and skills of children and adolescent boys and girls on protection and gender-responsive approaches and practices.
Responsibilities include:
  • Carry out driving duties as requested under ECHO project.
  • Collection and removal of trash from the vehicle to the designated landfill/other destination assigned by the supervisor
  • Complete daily inspection of vehicles and notify supervisor immediately of any faults, repairs, problems or other matters concerning vehicle operations which require attention
  • Record details of vehicle movement in and outside of the camp as per the required form
  • Establish and maintain constructive collaboration with the project team in the camp and other stakeholders in and outside of the camp
  • Any task assigned by the supervisor
  • Follow the rules and regulations set my Plan International regarding road rules and appropriate clothing
  • التأكيد من جمع النفايات بشكل يومي و ارسالها الى مكب النفايات المتفق عليه او الى اماكن اخرى بناءاً على توجيهات المشرف
  • عمل تقييم و تفتيش يومي للمركبات و إعلام المشرف بأي عيب في المركبة او اي اشياء اخرى تتعلق بتشغيل المركبة
  • تسجيل تفاصيل حركة المركبات داخل المخيم وخارجه وفقًا للنموذج المطلوب
  • إنشاء والحفاظ على التعاون البناء مع فريق المشروع في المخيم وأصحاب المصلحة الآخرين داخل وخارج المخيم
  • أي مهمة يكلفه بها المشرف
  • القدرة على اتباع القوانين التي تشمل قواعد الطريق و اللباس المناسب
Communications and Working Relationships
  • Provide updates and reports
  • Attend regular calls, meetings, etc. as required by Plan International.
Knowledge, Skills, Behaviours, and Experience Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives:
  • School Certificate
  • At least 2 years of previous experience as a driver
  • Driving license of 5th or 6th category
  • Willingness to learn fast and work in the refugee camp
  • Self-discipline and ability to work under pressure
  • Dedication to the humanitarian cause
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours, on holidays and weekends

  • Frequent travel to Azraq Camp
  • Level of Contact with Children: Minimal interaction directly with children
Duration: One year fixed term contract
Location: Program Departement – Plan International Amman office, Jordan – With frequent travel to Azraq camp
Reports to: Senior Operations Coordinator
